Leake Industry Technical Committee Confirming our recent telephone conversations, a luncheon meeting of the Industry Technical Comn~ittee is scheduled for noon on Tuesday, October ii! in the Gourmet Restaurant of the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington, Va. An agenda for this meeting is attached. A significant amount of time during this meeting will he devoted to developing means to respond to the request outlined in the attached September 26 letter from Mr. Horace R. Kornegay. As mentioned in my memorandum of August ii, two house hills, H.R. 1440 and H.R. 3392, include the Rose ~nendment concerning "Imported Tobacco". Additionally, the Waxman Bill, H.R. 1824, has included an amendment, "Disclosure of Pesticides" (copy attached), and appears to be directed toward regulating the manufacture, etc., of cigarettes which include tobacco that was "exposed" to one or more pesticides not registered under FIFRA. O O O aw Attacb/nents I appreciate your responsiveness during our telephone conversations as well as your willingness to take an active part in the discussions outlined in the attached agenda. I look forward to a productive meeting.
