Dear Secretary Califano:
I appreciate your bringing to my attention your program on smoking
and health. The effect of smoking on employee health, comfort and
lost productivity has long been a concern of ours.
In recognition of this, at our Headquarters building in New York,
for some time we have maintained a large no-smoking area in our
employee cafeteria, removed cigarette vending machines and desig-
nated all elevators no-smoking zones.
Our concern will continue to be respecting the rights of non-smokers
and fostering a work environment supportive of good health.
