268 January 26, 1944 A regular meeting of ttie Executive Committee of'P: Lorillard Company was held today at the office of'the Company, 119~West 40th Street, iwew York City. There were present Messrs.: G. H. Hummel. G. W. J. F. J. H. D. Whitefield J. Halley S. Freeman Hopewell T. Keel F. Temple! Todd Wool. Mr. Hummel,, Chairman, presided, and the Secretary acted as Secretary of'the meetzng.. On motion du7,yr made andiseconded, the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed'with. On motion of Mr. Keel, seconded by Mr. Hopewell, it was unanimoiusly RESOLVED: That the employment of' Ralph Baum, Salesman,, at a salary at the rate of $35 per week, effective January 24,, 1944, with the authoriza- tion of' the Sales Dept. and the approval of' G'. D. Whitefield, Executive Vice- President, and W.J. Halley, Vice-President, be and the same,hereby is in all respects approved, ratified', and!confirmed. On, motion of' Mr. Freeman, seconded by Mr. Bbpewell, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the employment of Mr. Julian Walega at the New York Office, at a salary at the rate of $40 per week,, effective January 10, 1944, be and the same hereby is iin all respects approved, ratified, and! oonfirmed. On motion of'Ma. Hopewell, seconded by ldr. Temple,, the following adver- tising,expendi'tures were in all respects approved', ratified, and confirmed: Estimates of J. Walter Thompson Compa)Oy as follows: #168' dated January 18, 1944 , covering radio advertising of OLD GOLD Cigarettes as therein set out, over Stations WIND and WJJD, Chicago, Illinois, during the 19" 'l baseball season, at a, cost of' $107,725. . #I69'dhted January 20, 1944 covering play-by-play broadbasts over Station WHN, New York City, of' baseball games of' the Brookly*niNational League, during the 1944 season, sponsored by OLD GOLD'Cigarettes, at alcost of $247,917'.82. The Secretary laid before the meeting the following: Contract with Wilber Mercantile Agency for one year"s subscription, beginning January 31, 1944 to Attorneyr and Banker's Directory and'supplies furnished therewith, at a cost of $25; Contract with United States Fidelity andi Guaranty Company,, Baltimore, Md., for one year's subscription beginning March 1, 191a4,, to Attorney's Z,i.st and supplies furnished' therewith, at a cost of' $50; each of 'which, On motion of Mr. Freeman, secondedi by Mr., Temple, was in, all respects approved, ratified'y, and confirmed.
