IBM is concerned,about the health implications of smoking and has had smoking guidelines for 17 years. The current guide- lines, updated in 1987, prohibit smoking except in specially designated areas and support the non-smokers' desire to work in a smoke-free environment. IBM also supports smoking cessation through our health education programs which are available to our employees, retirees and,eligible dependents. While we have shared information on our practice and programs with outside groups and would offer to do this for your program, we cannot agree to support all of the items listed in-the attach- ment to Dr. Parkin's letter of May 21, 1990.
