Henson, Arnold

(ATC General Counsel) Defense

Arnold Henson is former General Counsel for American Tobacco. (PMI's Introduction to Privilege Log and Glossary of Names, Estate of Burl Butler v. PMI, et al, April 19, 1996). In 1978, Henson was involved with the American Tobacco Co. and was also a member of the CTR Industry Research Committee. He attended the 10/26/78 CTR Industry Research Committee meeting in Lexington, KY. According to Donald Hoel's 11/67 memorandum, Janet and Arnie Henson expressed American Tobacco Company's view that CTR must be maintained but needed new people. It must be more politically oriented. The Hensons felt that the approach must be steady, slow and conservative. They must find skeptical scientists. The staff at CTR also needed to be more tobacco oriented with a skeptical view. (Judge H.L. Sarokin, Haines opinion 2/6/92; Haines documents in limine #01347203 et seq.)
